Charleston's is the old-school experience I needed. The mood lighting is so dim I almost ate my napkin, thinking it was a roll. We got seated instantly, even with a big crew. It's plain, direct, and exactly right. My only complaint is the lighting. I still can't say for sure what color the walls are. I think they're green. Or maybe blue.

The Mont has this old wood and stained glass thing going on, and it works. The staff remembers your drink, which is a power move I respect. This is not the fried chicken spot. I should have known from the name. The Bee Sting pizza sounded fun but came with raw dough and wet toppings, like a sad science experiment. Service left me hanging so long I checked my phone for a pulse. I asked another employee where the bartender was, and they said, "Never heard of her." I'm pretty sure that was a joke, but I couldn't verify. The idea of Volare is better than the reality. I ate a sad crust and left. I won't be back for the chicken, that's for sure.

O'Connell's is a student hangout near campus, and the game-day energy is real. The parking is a nightmare, but I'd do it again. The food is tasty and the service is very good.
